12:17 - I don't smoke. I like to set a good example for my children. SCSS is in your neighborhood? What would that be? Your post isn’t clear.

The FCPS SB [yes same initials as Silverbrok] website now has Opton 9 on board docs - new since this morning. This is Middle School only to Hayfield. All this wste of time , effort, and energy [as well as public money] to appease some developments that we all have spend millions on in school facilites.

A few days ago [?] someone blithered at me on this blog about "core areas" and they were going to tell someone about my post. Like I care...Well, as far as I can tell SC is in the lower potomac plnning area which happens to have some natural and manmade boundaries which include Prince William County.

Therefore, working up from the bottom is the way to fill SC. Of course, SC should be in it's own attendance area so first fill priority can be best done from Chevaliers little neighborhood breakdowns on his Laurel Hill work-up. Those are incorrect since the GT dept didn't give him breakdowns on the kids. Crosspoint etc is not really anywhere - it is a Fairfax Station address but not part of any core community. How an you throw Laurel Hill out of Forton? They are one and the same?

Magesterial districts have nothing to do with school boundaries nor do school names.

You people are hopeless all you do is promote spitefulness and dislike.

You have no idea about what SCSS means to areas of the community who attend the school. Silverbrook is desserving of attending SCSS. Storck made this mess, and so did 7 other Board members. Silverbrook should not feel the harm nor should NF in terms of a boundary reallignment because of his mistake and others.

Check your history about why the school was built. You will find your answers there.

Anonymous said...

The mistake was that Dan Storck and the rest of the school board didn't send of the west side to LB in the first boundary study. Now you won't let them correct for their mistake. Talk about hijacking a school system.

Anonymous said...

I repropose Option 2B.

Anonymous said...

You are not being hijacked you just believe you are "entitled", the word you threw at Silverbrook.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. The eastern side of the current SCSS boundary can respond to the issue of seats better as Hayfield has those seats and this area is within a reasonable proximity to Hayfield. This issue is not about LB. But you want it to be so you can throw poorly worded remarks and accusations at a civicly active community.

Take your bitterness and bigotry elsewhere. Sorry such an attitude like your's is going to Hayfield maybe they can help you and your obvious poor perception of Hayfield and other communities.

Grow up!

Anonymous said...

1:20 - Maybe you need some help with your anger issues.

Anonymous said...

The difference this round is you have more active communities other then Silverbrook. Feels a little different now that others speak up the don't necessarily agree with what silverbrook and newington forest want huh? Your right though, if everyone was more active the first time around then we probably would have gotten the boundary right the first time.

Anonymous said...

Attitude re-allignment anyone? This is a county wide school division and we all know the history of SC. If South county was never built, adding up all the middle/high students from Lake Braddock east and south results in FCPS being short 837 seats for Sept 2006 over 12 schools. A Planning District is not a Magisterial District. The surplus including SC 7-12 is a whopping 1663 now with only about 630 at Mount Vernon.

2:01 cont - the budget is not yet approved by the Board of Supervisors. This nonsense with Silverbrook is a perfect example of why Virginia will not increase funding for FX under SOQ's. A lot of kids in FCPS do not go to school in their immediate community at the secondary level. Many do not at the elementary level.

Anonymous said...

I repropose Option 1. It's still the best for ALL the current and more importantly, future, SCSS kids. Don't listen to the HF and LBSS spin. Option 1 is still the best. 2A and 2B are dead and buried.

Anonymous said...

Says who, 2:17? Repropose until the cows come home, but it is Option 1 that is dead and buried. There are far more children affected by this study than just the current and future SCSS students. What an attitude...

Anonymous said...

I agree with 2:17. Option 1 keeps all the kids at SCSS for High School. No on wants to leave SCSS - this solves that problem.

2:40 you seem to not care about the kids at SCSS. You obviously are protecting some turf at either HF or LBSS. Those kids are not moving and won'y be affected. You are the one with the attitude.

HF and LB are both projected to have 750-800 empty seats in 2011. The families being asked to change from SC to HF have the same concerns and issues that those no longer be asked to go to LB.

Anonymous said...

If all the HF folks want LB used, why not support Option 1. It clearly uses LB. What's the issue? You can't have it both ways.

Anonymous said...

Hayfield and Lake Braddock are entitled to protect their turf from option 1 - very bad for both those schools. The school board should send some rising 7th graders to both H & LB. However, I think we all know what the outcome will be. There are the odd one or two Silverbrookers still shouting and screaming, but most of them are not, because they already know they have won.

Anonymous said...

3:04 - There are more than just two ways. Isn't the SB up to option 9?

Anonymous said...

It's really a shame that FCPS can't do livestreaming online of tonight's meeting. Not everyone gets the local cable channel.

Anonymous said...

Maybe your local sports bar will turn to channel 21.

Anonymous said...

Where is the tailgate party?

Anonymous said...

I guess only us rich folks from Silverbrook can afford cable.

Anonymous said...

Grey's Anatomy and American Idol are on tonight. When does this board discuss anything? They do very little of it at their regular meetings or their work sessions. Chevalier does a half baked job since he doesn't get info from GT and no one makes them hand it over.

Anonymous said...

I like to watch the board meetings standing on my head. They tend to make more sense to me during the head rush.

Anonymous said...

What was the final decision??????

Anonymous said...

not done yet
options 9 and 7 have failed.
Gibson has proposed option 5 and they are currently discussing.

Would you like an update as they vote?

Anonymous said...

Yes
Can you do a play by play?

Anonymous said...

will
do
stay tuned
a vote for option 5 is coming soon.

Anonymous said...

I believe everyone withour COX cable would like that. DirecTV does not carry it. Thank you.

Anonymous said...

I should say "on" 5.
They are struggly with the choice of option 5 and staff recommendation they are calling the staff recommendation option 3 as I will also hear on out
Moon is reluctantly supporting option 5
Olesze just said she will not support 5 or option 3 and would rather do nothing.

Anonymous said...

my pleasure.
I can tell you they all are struggly with this.

Gibson gave a long speach about the civility of us citizens in this debate mention a mass email that went out yesterday.

Anonymous said...

kory speaking now

Anonymous said...

Kory believes the members representing the district have more say. She is supporting option 3 not 5

Anonymous said...

Smith supports number 5

Anonymous said...

Gibson speaking now. this may take a while.

Anonymous said...

Gibson talking bout MN and the bus ride. He takes the stand that they choose to live in a remote area and should expect a long ride.

Anonymous said...

Did any of the SB members actually come up w/ a plausible reason re: Silverbrook/LB other than the fact that too many political heavyweights were involved?

Anonymous said...

He is not talking about Olesek's comment about doing nothing. He is basically eyeing Olesek saying it is shameful to do nothing.

Anonymous said...

BTW
I am sending you a bill for this. whats your address?

Anonymous said...

Center speaking
he is worried we are not going to do anything. he wants closure and finds himself having to support 5 even though he favors 3 but would rather that then do nothing.

Anonymous said...

here comes the vote on option 5

Anonymous said...

Hey thanks...this is the first useful thing to come out of this blog

Anonymous said...

Just bill the school board. What's another couple thousand.

Anonymous said...

Option 5 has failed due to a tie!

Anonymous said...

The now will move to the main motion which is option 3 the Staff recommendation.

Anonymous said...

How did the votes go down?

Anonymous said...

Stork is ammending again to allow for liberal pupil placement. The purpose is to keep siblings at the same school if they wish too.

editor note if you all don't mind
I think this is reasonable.

PS. Just sent a bill to the school, they want to know what school district to charge it too.

Anonymous said...

10:31
did not note who vote what sorry.

Anonymous said...

definately reasonable

Anonymous said...

Gibson questioning Gary about the numbers involved with the type of pupil placement keeping siblings together. Tistadt said the 50 to 60 would qualify. Stu asking about transportation.

Anonymous said...

charge to strategic governance account.

Anonymous said...

Strategic governance is neither

Anonymous said...

battery runnng low.
got to plug in hope i dont miss any thin.

Anonymous said...

I guess the Option 2A and/or 2B weren't so unreasonable after all.

Anonymous said...

Is this what hayfield wanted?

Anonymous said...

gibson and wilson not supporting
Gibson made the point that relief of SCSS is the point by allow pupil placing that would be counterproductive.Wilson is making the same point.

Anonymous said...

center up now he can not support it for the same reasons

Anonymous said...

Smith cannot support it.

Anonymous said...

What has Steve Hunt said tonight?

Anonymous said...

Dan making point that transport. will not be provided. He is trying to help his families and lessen impact.

Anonymous said...

here comes the vote on the storck admendment on pupil placing

Anonymous said...

The motion failed.
Storck offering another admendment

Anonymous said...

$5 says he loses

Anonymous said...

The chair ruled motion is out of order
Storck objects.

Anonymous said...

The king of amendments...isn't this how we got here in the first place?

Anonymous said...

Storck is the chair????

Anonymous said...

Dan's motion is about the Cip which the chair says is not germain (sp? help me she ruled it out of order dan objected motion was made to discuss this that was second and they are now discussing.

Anonymous said...

Storck recused the chair to smith due to his interest in this meetin. did not want to be seen as taking advantage of having the chair.

Anonymous said...

He was going to ask for support for the MS

Anonymous said...

He figured since he took advantage of her to get chair he would let her keep it warm?

Anonymous said...

his amendment has to do with phase 2 about not causing movement on the Cip of other projects. Did not catch it all so I may be missing something hear.

Anonymous said...

Hunt is one of the few who knows what he is doing and takes time to figure it out

Anonymous said...

How do court reporters do it?

Anonymous said...

did i spell germaine germain right? I have to know.

Anonymous said...

You are doing great.

Anonymous said...

sorry lost connection. did not miss much. objection of chair is still being discussed.

Anonymous said...

germane

Anonymous said...

they are moving on and i think tabled dans ammendment not sure
Hunt is offering an ammendment something about projections and middle school.

Anonymous said...

duh germane.thanks

Anonymous said...

No problem. I had to look it up myself.

Too bad Hunt doesn't have more help. His stuff is pretty good.

Anonymous said...

Steve ammendment has something to do with allowing communities to return if a middle school is built. I might be off on this. Dan and speaking about it and I understand him better then steve believe it or not.

Anonymous said...

Kinda scary. Usually Dan doesn't know what Dan's talking about

Anonymous said...

Center talking to the amendment. Saying it is not adding stability and he does not support. Gibson talking and worried that this amendment will tie the hands of a future board.

Anonymous said...

Was South County the first one?

They still have 2 others.

Anonymous said...

yea but steve rambles

Anonymous said...

Interesting that Gibson doesn't mind kids traveling from MN to Hayfield but did have a problem with Silverbrook to LB.

Anonymous said...

Notice Strauss is not there?

Anonymous said...

Ok smith just read the ammendment. you all will have to look at board docs as it is to much for me to figure out. It just passed.

Here we go they are moving to the main movement as just ammended. Option 3 folks coming to vote.

Anonymous said...

Wasn't the distance issue for him

Anonymous said...

If I recall it was about bringing the communites back in for a middle school

Anonymous said...

The motion option 3 just passed.
Folks we have a boundary it is Staff recommendation.

Anonymous said...

OK...pull the plug and we will see you in 2 years.

Anonymous said...

$$$ TALK$

Anonymous said...

Not this time. It did last time

Anonymous said...

Center is trying to clairify Steve amendment. And that is if a middle school is built the boundaries go back to the SC boundary as they are today. WOW.

Anonymous said...

11:14, Crosspointe and the rest of Silverbrook did a lot of wheeling and dealing to make this happen.

Anonymous said...

Storck adding an ammendment about trying to find funding for a middle school. not sure what it is about. maybe steve will clarify

Anonymous said...

is anyone left out their.

Anonymous said...

there i should go to bed

Anonymous said...

I'm sorry. I couldn't hear you because of Silverbrook's clapping and celebrating.

Anonymous said...

Thank you commentator.

Anonymous said...

Great. My kid's school is STILL going to be way overcapacity because the SB were political cowards.

Anonymous said...

things are heating up with Gibson talking about moving things on the cip.

Anonymous said...

having trouble following now. I know steve is making a good point but i am not geting it. has something to do with impact on cip by free schools, payments, impact on cip, help. There has to be someone else watching this.

Anonymous said...

brad is saying the amendment is useless but he will support it.

Anonymous said...

what exactly is the amendment that they are talking about

Anonymous said...

Are they actually bumping projects on the CIP for an SCMS? Have they learned nothing about fiduciary responsibility?

Anonymous said...

Who knows.
It passed.
I think it simply says that the board will accept funding and building a new middle as long as it does not effect others projects on the CIP. They are done and in recess and I assume are coming back to tackle the other boundary issues.

Anonymous said...

Well, talk to you all later to discuss how many Silverbrook students will be sent to Lake Braddock.

Anonymous said...

In Phase II.

Anonymous said...

If it's North Silverbrook vs. Newington Forest, I think we know who will prevail.

Anonymous said...

We'll get the middle school --its already being worked on
